Singer and actress Jill Scott is on the cover of the September 2014 issue of Essence magazine Jill Scott shows offer her new hourglass shape in a beautiful black form-fitted dress. She’s also wearing a short blonde wig styled by Ursula Stephens, who is also the stylist for Rihanna. “I’m a wood-burning stove; it’s a slow brew,” she says referring to how long it has taken her to drop some serious pounds. She also talks briefly about the new man in her life. “My only job is to be happy. So for everybody that cares about me and is not trying to be all up in a celebrity’s business, just know that I’m happy. My son is happy. We enjoy our lives,” she said.

Risky Situations Increase Women’s Anxiety, Hurt Their Performance Compared to Men

SAN FRANCISCO — Risky situations increase anxiety for women but not for men, leading women to perform worse under these circumstances, finds a study to be presented at the 109th Annual Meeting of the American Sociological Association. “On the surface, risky situations may not appear to be particularly disadvantageous to women, but these findings suggest otherwise,” said study author Susan R. Fisk, a doctoral candidate in sociology at Stanford University, who defines a risky situation as any setting with an uncertain outcome in which there can be both positive or negative results, depending on some combination of skill and chance.

The Allstate Gospel Superfest Battle of the Bands New Talent Search to Return in August!- Jacksonville, Memphis & Washington, DC Chosen to Host the 2014 Competitions -(BLACK PR WIRE) – Cincinnati, OH – Producers of the Allstate Gospel Superfest will conduct its sixth annual new talent initiative in three major U.S. cities this coming August. The Allstate Gospel Superfest Battle of the Bands, a competition for aspiring gospel artists, will travel to Washington, DC, Memphis, TN and Jacksonville, FL in search of its next opening act for 2015. Interested gospel artists (consisting of twenty members or less) can enter the competition beginning Monday, June 2, 2014. The winner will be selected on Monday, September 15, 2014.
