Hip-hop is a global cultural phenomenon that continues to evolve in many different music and art forms, languages, dialects, and creative formats throughout the world. As we look back over the last 30 years or more, it is important to understand that hip-hop continues to help shape the consciousness and aspirational values of hundreds of millions of young people. The flashbacks to Vietnam for Lorenzo “Jamaica” Banks were coming fast. They were mixing with the horrors of the reality of being back home. So Banks decided to do something about it. He stepped off the Ben Franklin Bridge. His near death turned into a resurrection. He ended up getting physical treatment in a nice warm hospital bed along with mental health treatment..
