If asking billionaires and millionaires to pay taxes on luxury yachts and private jets is class warfare, then why isn't it class warfare when legislators propose to cut my parents' Social Security and undermine their Medicare? Already they have to make choices between paying their mortgage and buying the prescriptions that my mom needs for diabetes and my dad needs for high blood pressure--which he didn't have until he experienced the stress of financial hardship and began taking the additional medicines he needs to recover from his accident.

It’s been a long run for the “X-Factor USA” contestants and it all came to an end last night on the season finale. After a long couple months of tears, dance moves and Astro’s antics, this star studded finale showed us who was America’s next breakout star, and that star is 19 year old Melanie Amaro.

The New Hanover County Board of Education is seeking applicants for consideration for appointment to the new D.C. Virgo Urban Prep Charter Academy Board. They will appoint three individuals to serve staggered terms on the new charter school board. In order to achieve the staggered terms, the New Hanover County Board of Education will set the initial terms for their three members as one, two, or three-year terms. After this, all terms will be three years.

- Grant Competition for Three MBDA Business Centers Announced - The Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) today announced a competitive solicitation for applications from prospective candidates to operate a MBDA Business Center in three distinct areas of the United States: Houston, TX, the State of Louisiana, and either the State of Mississippi or the State of Tennessee. The successful applicants will join a network of more than 35 MBDA Business Centers across the United States, District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
