RALEIGH, N.C. – In an exciting compilation that moves smoothly from one country to another, author Mirka Christesen offers to readers a glimpse of what occurs in the classrooms based on her experiences as a teacher in the United States of America, Germany and The Czech Republic. In If School Desks Could Speak, readers will find out what will happen to a high school senior who addresses his teacher as “babe” or what words a seventh-grade boy made his teacher lose her cool, and many other situations.

What if school desks could speak, what would these silent witnesses of school life’s pulse say? Readers will uncover the answer to this and many other questions within the pages of this book. If School Desks Could Speak is a collection of true, humorous and heartening vignettes from the classrooms of middle- and high-school students on both sides of the Atlantic. From being addressed as ‘babe’ to finding a father’s personal item glowing in the dark; from dodging flying spit balls to flying business class; from confiscating student amorous messages to helping a teenage mother cope with an unplanned pregnancy, these are only a few examples of life in the trenches.

In If School Desks Could Speak, Christesen has revealed an honest testimony to the real world of a classroom teacher. These diverse situations will take the readers on exciting, humorous and absolutely heartening adventure. It is entertaining, inspiring and also educational.
