The University of Illinois at Chicago School of Public Health has received a three-year, $3 million grant to prepare kids for careers in public health. The Health Careers Opportunity Program: Pathways to Health Professions, funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, will target disadvantaged students from elementary school through college for careers in the health professions. In turn, the work force is ill-equipped to compete in a 21st century economy, and communities are at risk.
