 ing as America's chief diplomat\, she served as assistant to the president
  for national security affairs (national security advisor) from January 20
 01 to 2005. Rice joined the Stanford University faculty as a professor of 
 political science in 1981 and served as Stanford University's provost from
  1993 to 1999. She was a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution from 1991
  to 1993 and returned to the Hoover Institution after serving as provost u
 ntil 2001. As a professor\, Rice won two of the highest teaching honors: t
 he 1984 Walter J. Gores Award for Excellence in Teaching and the 1993 Scho
 ol of Humanities and Sciences Dean's Award for Distinguished Teaching.\n\n
 She is the author of the upcoming Extraordinary\, Ordinary People: A Memoi

 Millennium Challenge Corporation. Both endeavors increased aid to developi
 ng countries and the world's poorest\, most disadvantaged populations. PEP
 FAR was the largest commitment of funds from any single nation to combat a

 tate Univerisity NSBE Chapters looks to hold our 4th annual local A Walk f
 or Education (AWFE) in the underrepresented minority neighborhoods\, speci
 fically  the Ivory/Baker Recreation Center  area. <br /><br />Goal: To i
 ncrease awareness of the opportunities available through education particu
 larly in the STEM fields and to shatter myths about African-Americans in m
 ath\, science\, engineering and other technologies.</p>\n<p>Who will benef
 it? Students of all ages<br /> What will we do? Volunteers will walk door-
 to-door in a predominantly underrepresented minority communities distribut
 ing information about area college admissions\, area vocational schools\, 
 GED\,SAT/ACT\, NSBE Resources\, and financial aid. There will  be an onsi
 te college fair\,  as well as\,  S.T.E.M(Science\, Technology\, Engineer
 ing\, Math)  hands-on activity being conducted.</p>\n<p>Who can participa
 te? Anyone who believes that education is a good thing: a NSBE member\, a 
 Greek sorority and fraternity member\, a company representative\, a church
  member\, and a college graduate as well as a non-college graduate. All ar
