The Volunteer Center of Durham's18th annual GREAT HUMAN RACE is a 5k run and community walk th at supports area nonprofits. This unique fundraising event:
sup ports hundreds nonprofits\, schools and faith-based groups
provides a n opportunity for any nonprofit agency to raise money for their own organi zation
enables businesses and individuals to support the nonprofit of their choice
has raised almost $2 million since its inception in 199 6
This year we are excited to once again partner with Northgat e Mall as our venue host. This is a great location allowing plenty of spac e for all of our race day activities and entertainment. Northgate Mall is centrally located and easily accessible from all directions with convenien t and free parking.
The 5k course runs through the historic Wat ts Hospital-Hillandale neighborhood. A National Historic District\, this g ently rolling course will allow runners and walkers to enjoy a scenic neig hborhood that is a treasure trove of early twentieth-century American resi dential architecture.
