DESCRIPTION:<p>April Swap<br /><br />This will be our 10th swap! <br /><br
/>It will be held at 4pm Sunday April 28th at 317 Castle Street in Wilming
ton NC. Tables will be provided and you do not need to print this ticket t
o attend\, these RSVPs are just a way for us to get an idea of what to exp
 ect.<br /><br />Email portcityswappers@gmail.com if you have any questions
 !<br /><br />What is a food swap?<br /><br />A food swap is a recurring ev
ent where members of a community share homemade\, homegrown\, or foraged f
oods with each other. Swaps allow direct trades to take place between atte
ndees\, e.g.\, a loaf of bread for a jar of pickles or a half-dozen backya
rd eggs. No cash is exchanged\, and no goods are sold. Diversify your pant
ry and go home happy and inspired while meeting your friends and neighbors
 !<br /><br />Who can participate?<br /><br />We welcome everyone\, as long
  as you bring something you made\, grew\, or foraged yourself!<br /><br />
Where is it held?<br /><br />Port City Swappers meet at 317 Castle Street.
 <br /><br />What do people bring?<br /><br />All swap items must be homema
 de\, homegrown\, or foraged by you. Think baked goods\, jam\, pickles\, be
 er\, spreads\, honey\, vinegar\, mead\, granola\, pasta\, fruits\, vegetab
 les\, herbs\, spices\, homemade sausages\, backyard eggs … you name it!
Bring as little or as much as you like. You can bring a bunch of one thing
or multiples of a few different things. The possibilities are endless! Ke
ep in mind that swappers will be examining and picking up your goods\, so
be sure to package them in a way that protects the food and makes it clear
the amounts you want to swap. We encourage reusable\, earth-friendly pack
aging whenever possible. If possible\, you should also bring samples for o
 thers to try.<br /><br />What happens during the swap?<br /><br />Our swap
s last about 2 hours and are held in a silent auction style.<br /><br />
The first 30 minutes of the swap are devoted to sign-in\, set-up\, and g
reetings. Swappers fill out name tags and swap sheets (a sheet for each ty
pe of item with lines under it for other swappers to list what they would
offer) and set up their wares on the tables.<br /><br />• The next 30 mi
nutes to 1 hour are for everyone to walk around\, examine\, and sample ite
ms from the other swappers. Swappers will write their names and items they
brought on the sheets for any items they would like to take home.<br /><b
r />• The final 30 minutes are when all the swapping actually happens. E
veryone goes back to his or her original sheets of paper\, looks at the of
fers\, finds interested offerers via their name tags\, and swaps. These of
fers are just a starting point for conversation\; there’s no guarantee y
ou will get what you “bid” for and\, likewise\, you are under no oblig
ation to trade with the people who wrote on your paper. If it sounds intim
 idating\, don’t worry\, our swappers are quite friendly and it’s all d
one in the spirit of fun.<br /><br />How much does the Food Swap cost?<br
/><br />NOTHING! Port City Swappers is free to all who attend.<br /><br />
Do I have to swap?<br /><br />Not necessarily. If nothing tickles your fan
cy\, you are free to gift your items to a participant without exchanging f
 or something.<br /><br />The Honor Code<br /><br />All swap participants a
dhere to an honor code of using the highest cleanliness standards in their
own kitchens and gardens to prepare their swap items. Swap participants m
ust agree to the following terms before registering:<br /><br />• By par
ticipating in this event\, you are acknowledging that the items being shar
ed are not necessarily prepared in commercial kitchens or spaces inspected
by any government agency.<br /><br />• By participating in this event\,
you are also acknowledging that you will use the highest standards of saf
ety and cleanliness in food preparation.<br /><br />• By participating i
n this event\, you assume all liability\; specifically\, you agree to not
hold liable food swap hosts\, swap venue owners/providers\, or other swap
 participants.<br /><br /><script type='text/javascript' src='http://cdn.so
