RALEIGH – The N.C. Council for Women (CFW) has scheduled a Displaced Homemakers (DH) Confere nce for grantees\, DH program coordinators\, volunteers and collaborative partners. It will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 20 at Senior Serv ices Center\, 2895 Shorefair Drive in Winston Salem.
\nThe conferenc
e theme is “Building Self Sufficiency ... Improving Lives Across North C
arolina.” The event is free to eligible participants\, including members
of the CFW board\, who will conduct their regular quarterly meeting from
1:15 to 3:30 p.m. as part of the event.

olitical Climate\, and CFW Executive Director Beth Briggs\, who will prese
nt on the highly anticipated 2012 Status of Women in North Carolina report

A preliminary fact sheet\, Key Findings on the Economic Status of W
omen in North Carolina\, identifies both progress and continued challenges
for women in relation to unemployment\; education\, earnings\, and the ge
nder wage gap\; and economic security and poverty. The full report is slat
ed for October release.
The deadline to register is Sept. 14. Addi
