Bridging the Gap Between Academic and Entrepreneurial Capital: Strategies for Success for Women and Under-Represented Minorities
The UNC Charlotte ADVANCE Faculty Affairs and Diversity Office is co-hosting a conference, “Bridging the Gap Between Academic and Entrepreneurial Capital: Strategies for Success for Women and Under-Represented Minorities.”
The goal of the conference is to educate female and minority faculty and students and interested community members about how they can translate their intellectual capital into entrepreneurial capital in innovative ways, in addition to providing information regarding the commercialization of technology.
The one-day conference, which will be limited to 60 participants, will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at UNC Charlotte’s Center City Campus uptown. The agenda will include a plenary lecture on the topic of connecting the university to regional and state intellectual capital and economic development; and sessions regarding assessment of strengths; tech commercialization/opportunity assessment; financial resources/talking to investors; and finally an open forum session where a panel of 3 individuals who have been successful in bridging the gap between academia and entrepreneurship will discuss lessons learned on their journey to successfully market their ideas.
Participants will be limited to 60. For more information visit advance.uncc.edu
