In its short five years of existence, Cloud Gate, 2004-06 by British artist Anish Kapoor, aka the “Chicago Bean” has made a big splash by seemingly attempting to disappear. Set in Chicago’s Millennium Park, this installation has become an urban icon as well as a key tourist attraction, framed by skyscrapers and the lakefront as a 21st symbol of the city with broad shoulders. Scott Ogden, AIA/LEED AP is a local architect and flâneur who will discuss this gem as well as art in the public realm. ONE4$1 is an ongoing illustrated mini-lecture series featuring community speakers from a broad spectrum of backgrounds who have a strong interest in art.
