DESCRIPTION:<p>The holiday season is approaching fast and for Durham Parks 
 and  Recreation (DPR) that means it’s time to start planning the 2011 ho
 liday  event.</p>\n<p>DPR is proud to host the 2nd Annual Holiday Fun Fest
  and Tree  Lighting Ceremony. The event is free and open to the public.  T
 his  festival will have something for the whole family.</p>\n<p>The festiv
 ities will be held on Saturday\, December 3\, 2011 from 2  p.m. – 6 p.m.
  at the Durham Central Park\, 502 Foster St.\, and will also  include even
 ts at the historic Durham Armory\, 212 Foster St. The Fun  Fest begins at 
 2 p.m. and will conclude with the tree lighting ceremony  at 5:30 p.m.\, w
 hich will be held at the CCB Plaza\, 201 N. Corcoran St.</p>\n<p>The event
  is designed to engage the community in a day of fun  activities and event
 s. Participants will not only be able to observe the  activities\, but tak
 e part in them as well.</p>\n<p>Festival Activities at Durham Central Park
 :  	<br />Peppermint Plunge Snow Sledding (Sleds will be provided)<br />Pe
 tting Zoo<br />Merry Mini-parade (at 5 p.m. - see map for new extended rou
 te)<br />Community Care Corner (Write messages to soldiers in the U.S. mil
 itary)<br />Holiday Eats & Treats (Food vendor lane)<br />Campfire Sing-al
 ong and S’mores<br />Tricycle Race (for adults and older kids)<br />Trac
 kless Train Rides (for adults and kids)<br />Kiddie Construction Tent (Hos
 ted by The Home Depot)<br /> North Pole Activities at Durham Armory:  	<br
  />Holiday Art and Craft Vendors<br />Meet and Greet with Santa<br />Holid
 ay Movies on the Jumbo Screen<br /> 2 p.m. – 'Miracle on 34th Street'<br
