 mbols of hope.  <br /> <br />Women of Hope\, founded by Wilmington\, Nort
 h Carolina residents\, Kenny Barnes and his wife Elizabeth\, is a multi-ri
 bbon cancer support group.  Focused on women and women's cancers\, Women 
 of Hope is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit for women and their families battling can
 cer. <br /> <br />Providing direct support\, health awareness education\, 
 sponsoring treatment support groups\, caregiver support groups\, mentoring
  and outreach\, Women of Hope is supported by contributions\, the Angels o
 f Hope Calendar\, a 5K Run\, fashion shows\, charity tournaments and now t
 he East Coast Shag Classic.    <br /> <br />During this season of the r
 ibbon\, to benefit Women of Hope\, development director Penny Millis today
  announced the location and dates of the inaugural East Coast Shag Classic
  - Cancer Benefit:  Wrightsville Beach\, N.C.   <br /> <br />East Coast
  Shag Classic premiere\, Blockade Runner Beach Resort The East Coast Shag 
 Classic is a three-day\, lively beachfront getaway celebrating East Coast 
 beach culture through the music that inspired the shag\, the unofficial da
 nce of the state of North Carolina.<br /> <br />Town Mayor\, David Cignott
 i said:  'Wrightsville Beach\, North Carolina's most accessible and sceni
 c beach town\, is excited to be the location for the inaugural East Coast 
 Shag Classic. Beach music fans will have the opportunity to dance to the b
 est beach bands in the Carolinas while supporting Women of Hope\, a wonder
 ful organization that supports female cancer patients and their families. 
 It is my hope that this event will become an annual Wrightsville Beach tra
 dition!'<br /> <br />Evening performers include:  Band of Oz\, Mark Rober
 ts & Breeze\, and the Fantastic Shakers\, with three live ballroom dance c
 oncerts.  By day\, there will be shag lessons--for beginning and intermed
 iate want-to-be dancers-and shag sessions for seasoned shaggers.<br /> <br
