Do you know a talented\, young musician who is dedicated to leading a healthy lifestyle?

The Partnership at Drugfree.org\, in conjunction with the GRAMMY Foundation® and MusiCares®\, is kicking off the back-to-school season in search of young musicians (ages 14-18) to compose or create an original song and/or music video that promotes and c elebrates healthy living and/or appropriately depicts a story about drug a buse. In our efforts to raise awareness of addiction and recovery\, we enc ourage teens to submit their powerful messages of struggle\, hope and triu mphant healing.

The first\, second and third place winners wil l each receive:

A trip to Los Angeles to attend the 55th annual GRAMMY Awards® Backstage Experience\, a unique backstage tour taking pla ce as artists rehearse live for the GRAMMY awards\;
Placement and ex posure of their musical entries on the GRAMMY365® website\, MTV Act Blog\ , and the Above the Influence campaign website\;
An iPad\, equipped with the GarageBand app\;
The opportunity to release a record with I ron Ridge Road Recordings\, courtesy of Clarity Way of Hanover\, PA\; and
A certificate from the GRAMMY Foundation and MusiCares in acknowledg ment of each winner’s activism in disseminating of health information on substance abuse.
A cash award of $500 will go to the first place wi nner\; $250 to the second prize winner\; and $100 to the third place winne r courtesy of the Visions Adolescent Treatment Center in Malibu\, Californ ia.

Participants will submit their creative Music Video OR original Music/Lyrics composition that celebrate healthy and creative living or music that accurately portrays the dangers of drug abuse. The contest winners’ names will be announced publicly d uring the National Institute on Drug Abuse National Drug Facts Week which is January 28 – February 3\, 2013.

The Museum invites visitors and members to attend an opening reception celebrating a new exhibition on view in the Museum's North Wing . 'The Philadelphia Story' features contemporary figurative works from art ist-alumni of The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. This reception is free with membership or Museum admission. Grammy-winning gospel and blues legend Mavis Staples performs at 8 p.m. on Tuesday\, Feb. 5 in UNCW’s Ke nan Auditorium.  The performance\, co-sponsored by the UNCW Office of Cul tural Arts and The Penguin - 98.3 fm\, is part of the UNCW Masters Series\ , which brings artists of cultural and historic significance to Wilmington each year.

Staples' remarkable career began in the 1950s when her family's gospel group\, The Staples Singers\, became a household name with popular hits such as 'I'll Take You There' and 'Respect Yourself.' Si nce that time\, Staples has maintained her gospel roots while blazing new trails – taking her from the epicenter of the civil rights movement and collaborations with artists such as Bob Dylan\, The Band and Prince to her 2011 Grammy-winning album You Are Not Alone\, produced by Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy.

“Mavis is the walking embodiment of undaunted sp irit and courage\,” says Tweedy. “She’s an ever-forward looking\, po sitive example for all human beings. And she sounds like she’s in the pr ime of her life.”

One of the greatest voices of our time\, St aples’ many contributions to the American musical landscape have been re cognized by the NAACP\, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame\, National Endowment fo r the Arts and artists and critics from across the music spectrum.
