Walkers g ather for a picture at the 2011 Northern Virginia VisionWalkMore than 10 m illion Americans are affected by blinding retinal diseases such as macular degeneration\, retinitis pigmentosa and Usher Syndrome. The Foundation Fi ghting Blindness is working to find treatments and cures for these devasta ting diseases. Our Foundation funds leading-edge research in areas such as genetics\, gene therapy\, transplantation\, artificial retinal implants\, and pharmaceutical and nutritional therapies.

Since 2006\, Vis ionWalk has raised over $23 million to support the mission of the Foundati on Fighting Blindness. More than 50 walks are planned for 2013\, including the 8th Annual Northern Virginia VisionWalk on Sunday\, April 21st\, 2013 \, at Fairfax Corners.

Make a difference! Join us for a fun\, f amily-friendly event to celebrate the fundraising efforts of the Hampton R oads community and to get together with friends and family of those who sh are a similar goal of finding a cure. We will have plenty of activities\, including a bounce house\, face painting\, characters\, music and a whole lot more.

Mr. Cribbs will present a short pre-conce rt talk at 3:35 pm.

The 3K/5K Walk/Fun Run to End Violence Against Wome n & Girls in Wilmington\, NC\, is a rain or shine event and begins at She lter #4 at Hugh MacRae Park. The advance registration fee for those 12+ y ears of age is $15 per walker\, and there's no registration fee for child ren under 12. Students registration fee is $5 in advance. The day of race registration is $20 per walker 12+ years of age and $10 for students. On -site registration begins at 1pm. Walkers 12+ years of age receive a T-sh irt as a token of appreciation for participating in the event if they reg ister by April 18. Please specify T-shirt size when completing registrati on.
