John Travis HoltHere is an unusual reason for hosting the Million Father March 2013 at your school or in your community.  When fathers and men are at schools, children feel safer.  When fathers and men are at schools, teachers feel safer.  When fathers and men are at schools, students are better behaved.  When fathers and men are at schools, those who might want to do harm to children or disrupt education usually stay away.  Almost no incidents of violence ever occur or are reported on the first day at schools that participate in the Million Father March.

Oakland, CA -- More than 150 African American young men from throughout the San Francisco Bay Area who are heading to college in the fall were recognized June 19 at a special graduation ceremony. Nearly 300 community members attended the mass graduation ceremony, which also featured spoken word as well as pledges for the graduates and community members.

WASHINGTON — On Aug. 2, 2013, in time for the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington, the Newseum will open “Make Some Noise: Students and the Civil Rights Movement,” an exhibit that explores the new generation of student leaders in the early 1960s who fought segregation by exercising their First Amendment rights and making their voices heard.
