Tuesday, September 9, 2014
6:30 p.m.

The ‘Granja Urbana’ summer dinner series provides guests a preview of Chef Diana Davila’s menu in a unique urban garden setting at the Gary Comer Youth Center. Gary Comer Youth Center students will be joining Chef Davila in growing produce, preparing and serving the dinner. Aligned with the restaurant’s overall mission, the Granja Urbana dinner series benefits local charity partners advancing urban agriculture and culinary initiatives in the city. Cantina de la Granja is commited to locally sourced ingredients, preservation and freezing techniques and their own rooftop growing in Andersonville. Enjoy a memorable food experience as Chef Davila takes traditional Mexican dishes and combines modern culinary techniques and artful presentation on our award-winning rooftop garden. A limited number of tickets are available for purchase.

The Gary Comer Youth Center prepares students to reach their full potential through holistic enrichment education. Its commitment to urban agriculture is demonstrated in its three on-site gardens, a third of an acre on its rooftop, an environmental education garden and a 1.75 acre youth education garden site. Over 10,000 pounds of fresh produce was grown at Comer last year and 75% of the fresh produce stays in the community, filling a need for healthy and accessible food options for residents.
