The Tuition Aid Trap

Between 1970 and 2000, the number of individuals enrolled in institutions of higher learning increased from about 8.5 million to 15.3 million. Likewise, from 1971 to 2001, the percentage of 25- to 29-year-olds in the United States holding at least a bachelor’s degree rose 71 percent. Race-based Bake Sale
(NNPA) -- Southern Methodist University ended a bake sale recently where cookies were sold at different prices depending on the buyer’s race or gender. The bake sale was organized by the Young Conservatives of Texas, who said the bake sale was intended as a protest of affirmative action. White males were charged $1 for a cookie; white women were charged 75 cents; 50 cents for Hispanics and 25 cents for blacks. [FULL_TEXT]

Study Shows Racial Profiling Alive and Well in Minnesota
