Commission Aims to Reduce Health
Profession Barriers for Minorities
Instead of ringing a school bell calling
more minorities into the health professions, new numbers released
last week set off alarm bells, said Louis W. Sullivan, M.D.,
chair of the Sullivan Commission on Diversity in the Healthcare
Workforce and former U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services.
This decline is shortchanging the opportunity for a well-rounded

Economy Still in the Doldrums for
Minorities

last year, and the number is likely to be rising. Median income
dropped, too, from $42,900 to $42,409. The reduction seems small
until you break it down. [FULL_TEXT]

of jobs during his years in office. They demand that he radically
increase funding for job training programs and provide more tax
incentives for the working poor. [FULL_TEXT]
