Introducing Greater Diversity News (GDN)
Message From J. Travis Reep,
editor in chief, GDN formerly The Challenger
GreaterDiversity.com
and The Challenger joined forces in December 2003 to expand empowerment coverage of
economic development, diversity news and research, community enrichment,
human resources, as well as minority supplier news and business leadership
advice. To begin this important union The Challenger changed its
name to Greater Diversity News. The new name marks the beginning
of a more focused approach to economic empowerment coverage for minorities and women as it relates to employment, education and business, as well
as providing employers and human resource professionals with important
research related to diversity outreach. As a member of the National
Minority Supplier Development Council, we have also expanded news coverage
of workforce and supplier diversity.
The name change was a major step towards reaching the next level for
our company. Although we have aligned our content with GreaterDiversity.com
and diversified our outreach beyond an exclusively African American perspective,
the new GDN continues to focus on issues related to the National
Black Family Empowerment Agenda. We do not plan to change NBFEA coverage
and will keep the page dedicated to the Agendas growth. We will
maintain our current standards of excellence while offering our readers
more diverse empowerment perspectives with new sections like Diversity
News and Research for employers.
Our new sections take away little from what we currently offer but
they do add a lot: Front, Commentary, Business and Economic Development,
Education and Career, Diversity News and Research, NBFEA, Spirit, Life
& Culture. We are sure you will find the new and improved Greater
Diversity News to be an equally enriching publication, offering African
Americans more while reaching across ethnic barriers to unite larger
groups of marginalized people. The more eyes we can see a particular
situation with, the better we will understand and master it.
December 4, 2003 is the official date of the name change. Thank you
for your ongoing support.
